Serving players since 1988.Bauer’s next upgrade to the Vapor protective family is in the form of the new 3X Pro protective series. The 3X Pro shoulder pads are designed with some Hyperlite tech in the sternum, in addition to a Flexaprene vest and a Thermomax+ liner to give you amazing protection at the competitive level.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
The shoulder caps are made of Aerolite 2.0 and linked to the pads with Connektor to hold them in place. Aerolite is found in protectives across Bauer equipment and other sports; it is known for its light weight and strong ability to absorb and disperse the impact from big hits.
Sternum Protection
At the second-highest price point, the 3X Pro shoulder pads have evolved to using a floating Hyperlite HD sternum with an HD foam insert. Over the front panel as well is a soft and comfortable Flexaprene vest, which uses Flexcell foam on the base. Flexcell offers a great balance between adaptability and comfort.
Spine Protection
The spine area is covered by a floating molded spine, which offers a close, protective fit without restricting freedom of movement.
Bicep Protection
The Vapor line is all about speed and maneuverability. The 3X Pro shoulder pads’ bicep has a one-piece sleeve-fit closure construction, meaning that it wraps around your bicep and stretches comfortably based on your needs while allowing for optimal movement. It is made with molded PE, which provides reliable protection against impact force.
Liner
The liner for the 3X Pro is Bauer’s Thermomax+ liner. Thermomax+ is amazing at repelling sweat and odour, keeping your pads fresher for longer. The liner will also keep you cool and comfortable while you are in your equipment.
Abdominal Protection Piece
The Vapor 3X Pro shoulder pads are equipped with a removable abdominal protection piece for added protection in that sensitive area.

The Bauer Vapor 3X Pro Intermediate Hockey Shoulder Pads are available in Medium and Large sizes. If you are looking for a larger or smaller size, the 3X Pro gear is also available in Senior and Junior sizing.

Hockey Shoulder Pads Sizing Information
Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit.
1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
