With the addition of the X-LITE SHIELD in the sternum and AEROLITE 2.0 technology in the shoulder caps, you will hardly notice you’re wearing them while zooming around the ice.
Shoulder Caps & Protection
The Vapor 2X shoulder pads come with AEROLITE 2.0 shoulder caps that work to disperse any impact over the cap itself instead of the force from the contact going directly into your shoulder. Additionally, Bauer has added lightweight HD foam inserts into the arch as well for further protection.
Sternum Protection
Bauer’s X-LITE Shield on the sternum of these shoulder pads provides exceptional protection from heavy blows received head on while its sleek profile also keeps the shoulder pads lightweight.
Spine Protection
Bauer has used Molded HD Foams and PE Inserts to help fill vital areas and to ensure your back is sufficiently protected while also adding perforated vented MD foams to wrap around and protect your ribs.
Bicep Protection
The biceps guards on the Vapor 2X shoulder pads are made from MD Foam combined with molded PE inserts and are adjustable so you can ensure they are sitting comfortably and offering maximum protection.
Liner

Sizing before Purchase
To fit for a properly sized shoulder pad, you will need a soft tape measurer to measure and record your chest measurement. To do this, find the widest point of your chest (usually just below your armpits) and measure the circumference. Record the measurement in inches and compare to the available sizing charts in each brand. Also compare your height, weight and age to find your best fit.
Sizing after Purchase
Once you have received your new shoulder pad, stand in front of a mirror and strap them on. You will want to check the follow criteria to ensure a proper and protective fit:
- 1. The tips of your shoulder are sitting directly under the middle of the shoulder cap. If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap.
- This is important because if the shoulder cap does not sit in the correct position, your clavicles, shoulders, and upper arms can become more susceptible to injury. 2. The bicep guards are positioned maximum halfway down the upper arm.
- Adjust the bicep guards using the Velcro straps located underneath the shoulder caps (if applicable). At the highest point, the bicep guards should not be more than halfway down the upper arm. This is important because they can interfere with your elbow pads, throwing off the fit.
If you are checking sizing for a child, it is ok for the tips of their shoulder to be under the inner half of the cap and not directly in line with the middle.
