The Bauer Supreme 3S Senior Hockey Skate is the newest member of the Supreme family. Following Bauer’s new fitting process, the 3S Pro will be a skate that opens up options to all foot profiles to find the right skate for you!
With the focus on explosive power and control, the 3S comes with other upgrades that you don’t want to miss out on!
Performance Skate Fit System
Bauer’s Performance Skate Fit System is a revolutionary new way to fit skates. The traditional D and EE widths have now been replaced by Fit 1, Fit 2, and Fit 3. This might sound a bit confusing, however this will give you more skate options to wear in the Bauer family of skates, ultimately providing you with the perfect fitting skate.
Previously you made Bauer skate purchases based on the “Vapor Fit”, “Supreme Fit”, or “Nexus Fit”. Now all 3 skate fits are available to wear with “Supreme Features”, or “Vapor features”, whichever aligns with your preference. Below is how the new Bauer Skate Fit System compares to previous years of Bauer Skates.
- Fit 1 = Low Volume, Narrow Width (closest aligned to the Vapor fit profile)
- Fit 2 = Medium Volume, Medium Width (closest aligned to the Supreme fit profile)
- Fit 3 = High Volume, Wide Width (closest aligned to the Nexus fit profile)
Boot Construction/Stiffness Profile
Bauer has constructed the Supreme 3S with the focus on Performance level hockey players. The 3S skate features Bauer’s 3D Lasted Flex Composite material. The Flex Composite Material used in the 3S is used to provide good stability into the skates while offering great ability for ankle flexion. Comfort Edge Padding compliments the top of the boot to reduce bite when performing stops, starts and aggressive tight turns.
Bauer has introduced a new feature exclusively to the Supreme line, with the flex of each skate geared towards matching the flex of the boot to the player's skating abilities. On the 3S Senior hockey skate, the flex profile is stated to be 70 flex points, where its smaller sizes in the intermediate range are stated to be 60 flex points and junior range are stated to be 45 flex points with added Flex Motion. With this flex profile integrated into the 3S boot, this will provide increased range of motion, heightened lateral and torsional stiffness which translate to the highest form of energy transfer.
Tongue
Bauer has styled its 3S tongue to keep the main focus of comfort and performance to ensure stability and flexibility. The tongue includes a 48 oz. felt base with Exposed Injected Metatarsal Guard on the face to provide protection and comfort against lace bite and also gives the tongue spring in your stride.
Liner/Internal Padding
The 3S comes out of the box with a game day ready comfort before heat molding. With the new Fit styles that Bauer has provided, getting in the 3S is seamless for any customer. The 3S features the Hydrophobic Microfiber liner to provide grip and moisture management for peak performance. Pairing with the Hydrophobic Microfiber, Bauer has upgraded the internal foam to AeroFoam memory foam which delivers a pillowy soft comfort while providing a snug ankle wrap.
Steel/Holder/Profile
On the 3S Senior hockey skate, you will be geared with Lightspeed LS 1 steel. This steel comes with a step up from stainless offering glide, strong edge and a smooth finish. This season, you will receive a Power Profile which will only come when you buy the Ultrasonic. Bauer has built a strong working relationship with ProSharp and believes the Power Profile (Quad series) suits the Supreme line very well. You will maximize control, speed and more power from your stride all while being able to do so on a shallower sharpening.
The holder used on the 3S senior skate is the Tuuk Lightspeed Edge with quick release trigger system. This holder is the number one holder used by NHL and professional players everywhere.

Hockey Player Skate Sizing Guide
- Things to consider:
- Age
- Measurement from longest point of foot (cm)
When sizing for the correct size of a skate, we always advise taking the measurements below from a sitting position and not standing upright. Additional weight on your foot/feet can skew your result and misrepresent your foot size. The reason for this is that as you put your full weight on your feet, the arch of your foot will collapse and cause your foot to appear wider or longer than it actually is.
As well, please be aware that skate sizes and shoes sizing do not match exactly. As a general guideline, skate's size 1 - 1 ½ sizes smaller than shoes.
It is ideal for a player to have a tight, snug fit both in length and width as this will provide the best performance and durability. If a skate is too big you will feel your feet slide around and you will not get the full performance out of the skates and can also develop calcium deposits - Haglund’s Deformity or “Bauer Bumps” for lack of a better term although this issue doesn’t only occur with Bauer models.
An Ideal Fit
Stand with your skates laced and your heel snug in the heel cup. Your toes should just barely feather the end of the toe box. Bend forward into a skating stance. Your toes should pull back slightly from the toe box. Once heat fit, your foot should slide back into the foams of the skate and the length you felt in your skating stance will more-or-less become you standing size.
To obtain the measurement above you will need a soft tape measure and a pen. Start by placing the tape measure flat along the ground in a straight line. Sitting in a chair, place your foot down with the longest point of your foot (usually big toe, or second toe) in line with the edge of the tape measure. Make sure you keep your weight off of your foot. Take a pen and mark the tape measure where the edge of your heel ends. Record this length in cm. This measurement will correspond with the sizing charts in each brand below, if you do not see your exact measurement, select the size with the next size increment above your measurement (i.e. you measure 24.9 cm, you would select 25.1 cm or Size 6).
Sizing Children for Growth Room
If you are purchasing skates for your child, it is common and usually recommended to add some additional room in the skate to increase the last, we recommend no more than 1 full size. Feet stop growing around ages 15 – 15 ½, and from ages 14 - 15 ½ we would recommend adding only half (1/2) a size in length. Follow the same measurement instructions as above, once you obtain your true size move up ½ or 1 size.
***Sizing of skates is very preference based and these measurements will not guarantee a fit that is right for you. Please use these as general guidelines, for the most accurate fit we always recommend getting measured by a professional skate fitter at our store or your local pro shop.***
