The 2019 Bauer Prodigy hockey stick is perfect for players just getting into the sport that are looking to develop and hone their skills. The 40 flex model is great for players under 5’2” and under 100 lbs.
One exciting new offering with the Prodigy series is the P01 curve or blade pattern. The blade curve has a youth focused twist at the end of the toe which help young players lift the puck. For young players, this is an exciting and confidence boosting skill!
Stick Flex Profile
The 2019 Prodigy series has a mid kick flex profile. This is a standard way for young players to learn how to shoot and pass. The stick will flex in the middle like a bow and help push the puck forward.
The shaft is made using unidirectional carbon fiber. This just means you won’t see a carbon weave like in more advanced models, but you’ll still see the lightweight properties of a composite stick.
The stick also has Bauer’s Micro Feel II shaft dimensions, which means the shaft has rounded corners and indents on the sidewalls so the young player can comfortably and securely hold and maneuver the stick.
Even at the youth level Bauer has packed in some great technology into the Prodigy blade. Overall, the combination of MaxBalance, Aero Foam I, and Pure Shot provides a lightweight, durable, and stiff blade that is plenty light enough for young players still developing arm strength.
The Prodigy 40 flex graphics are awesome! We all know kids love bright colours so with the 40 flex model, Bauer has designed a bright blue flash at the top with the red highlights. All with the polished look Bauer offers with their professional level sticks.
The Prodigy stick lineup does have a clear grip finish on all models. The slightly tacky grip coating allows for increased control when shooting, passing, and puck handling.
