Bauer has unveiled their newest addition to their recreational goalie line. The Bauer GSX family has been created for goalies who skate 1-2 times per week, and it provides the protection needed and performs at a good level for less competitive levels of hockey.
Break Angle
This catcher is designed with Supreme’s 75-degree break angle, which focuses primarily on a fingertip-to-thumb closure. This further translates to a wider catch surface when opening the glove during play.
Cuff Design
The cuff design is a reinforced cuff that provides protection against impacts that goaltenders may face. Made of high-quality foams, its construction provides structured durability while not affecting the mobility of goaltenders.
Palm Design
The palm on the GSX catcher is a Nash base palm with added grip. The Nash material allows the goalies to experience the comfort it provides while wearing this catcher, and the added grip to help goalies trap and hold onto pucks. The palm has also been reinforced with foams that are designed to help goalies stay protected while on the ice.
Pocket Design
The catcher uses a reinforced Fused double-T pocket design, which provides a large and secure catching surface. The two-piece construction allows the goaltender to trap the puck between the two sections of the pocket, creating a stable grip on the puck. The double-T pocket design allows for quick and easy release of the puck, and it has a natural “funnel” shape that helps guide the puck towards the goaltender’s hand for cleaner and quicker catches.
Backhand Protection
The backhand design on this catcher features a free-flex construction. This design allows the goalie to move their hand freely while still remaining protected from impacts. The adjustable wrist also enables goalies to further adjust the fit of their catcher to a fit that is tailored to them.
Strapping System
The strapping system features a series of adjustable straps and fasteners that can be configured to achieve the desired level of support, mobility, and comfort. The glove also includes an optimized wrist strap for a more comfortable and adjustable fit, as well as a full adjustable backhand.
Sizing & Colors
The Bauer GSX Senior Goalie Catcher comes in a regular and full-right catch hand. Full right is designed for those who use their catcher on their right hand. This catcher is also offered in Black, White, White/Blue, and White/Red.

Goalie Catcher Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*
Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.
Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
- Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
- Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
