The Bauer GSX Goalie Blocker is designed for the recreational goalie that skates 1-2 times per week. The GSX line provides the protection needed and performs at a good level for less competitive levels of hockey.
External Material
The blocking board on this blocker is made up from dual density foam. The dual density foam provides the blocking surface with an excellent layer of foam that is designed to direct pucks away while keeping goalies protected while making critical saves.
Side Hand Protection
The side plate on this blocker features a Supreme geometry. This refers to specific, rigid, and square-shaped designs that are aimed at optimizing rebound control and maximizing net coverage.
Palm Material
This year’s GSX line of blockers features a 14.5” gray Nash palm. This material is designed to offer a premium, high-performance replacement option focusing on superior grip, durability, and comfort. Nash material is known for being soft, yet incredibly durable, providing a “pro” feel that helps with stick handling and controlling rebounds.
Thumb Design
The thumb features a freeflex thumb design. This promotes enhanced thumb movements for goaltenders, so that they aren’t feeling restricted when playing the puck.
Cuff Design
The asymmetrical adjustable flex cuff on this blocker is a design feature that is focused on maximizing wrist mobility for stick handling and save execution, and it is found in a lot of modern goalie blockers. It is designed to be lower on the inside of the wrist to allow for better range of motion while maintaining protection on the outside.
Liner
The inside of the blocker is lined with a comfort foam liner. This liner is designed to provide comfort and support for goaltenders, adding a soft feel and extra grip while holding onto their sticks. The blocker also features stretch knuckles that are designed to provide an additional level of support, allowing goalies to move their fingers and hands more freely, allowing for more mobility.
Backhand Protection
The backhand on this blocker features an ergonomic fit. This allows the hand to sit comfortably in the blocker, and be able to move their hand without restrictions. The simple hook and loop fastenings hold the fingers with a secure tension that’s easily adjustable, allowing goalies to dial-in their perfect fit.
Sizing & Colors
The Bauer GSX Senior Goalie Blocker comes in regular and full-right catch hands. Full-right is designed for those who use their blocker on their left hand. The GSX blocker also comes in Black, White, White/Blue, and White/Red.

Goalie Blockers Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Blocker Hands Simplified
- Regular - Blocker worn on your Right Hand
- Full Right - Blocker worn on your Left Hand
