Warrior Ritual GT Pro Blocker and Trapper
Pete Smith and the team at Warrior have been pushing the envelope of goalie equipment, bringing innovative thinking to a position primarily based on familiarity, comfort and ritual. From extremely lightweight equipment to interchangeable glove palms, the Warrior team continually force goalies out of their comfort zones to find something potentially better.
The new Warrior Ritual GT Pro blocker and trapper are made with a super lightweight construction and high-quality materials, for fast hands and pro-level performance.
Blocker
The Ritual GT blocker weighs in at just 1.8 lbs., placing it amongst the lightest blockers on the market. The Ritual GT blocker is constructed high-density foam, has a binding-less board face, and a solid sideboard attachment. The blocker board follows the trend of most blockers and has a less aggressive board curvature, making rebounds more predictable.
The side board of the blocker is sewn in directly to the blocker board, creating a stable blocking surface for any awkward save. A notable feature of the blocker is how thick the foam is; the R/GT provides ample protection, from any angle, to keep your hand bruise-free.
The Ritual GT Pro features contoured thumb and finger protection. Constructed with HD foam and molded plastic, the thumb and finger protection can take a beating from even the hardest shooters on the ice, making you a little more comfortable with throwing limbs in any direction to make a save.
The removable palm allows you to put in a palm that fits their hand correctly (palm sizes come in M, L, XL, and Intermediate sizes). Another great feature of the removable palms is that you can machine wash them to keep them fresh. The stock palm size is large.
Trapper
Warrior designed the Ritual GT Pro trapper with a bit more simplicity than the Ritual G3 trapper, and keeps the weight down at 1.8 lbs. Constructed with compartmentalized, super lightweight high-density foam, the R/GT Pro has a fluid closure. The major use of HD foam creates a pretty thick palm and finger protection, to help avoid any stingers—sometimes, of course, those stingers are just unavoidable.
Unlike the Ritual G3 Pro, the GT Pro does not feature removable palm. Although this doesn’t allow you to change the break angle or wash the palm, it does provide a more consistent feel and closure.
Speaking of break angles, the R/GT Pro comes with a 70-degree closure, which Warrior has never offered before. This break angle is a little different feeling than anything on the market, and it’s facilitated by a designing the glove with a longer finger portion of the palm. When closed, the pocket T is offset to the right. Feedback from one use on the ice: you’re going to catch puck you thought you missed, so there is a bit of an adjustment you need to make. Also, the pocket is huge.
