Let’s start this off with a question, did you love the Bauer Nexus 1N Stick? If you answered yes to this, then should definitely consider taking a long hard look at the revamped, remodeled Nexus 1N 2.0. Improving on the design of last year’s Nexus 1N, Bauer has made some welcomed changes to help improve the performance of the stick without sacrificing the things that made you fall in love with the 1N of old. Let’s dive right in.
Sweet Spot
Bauer has formulated a better way to be more efficient during gameplay with the new Nexus 1N. Increasing the area for their Sweet Spot technology. Bauer has gone ahead an thinned the taper creating more rounded corners has this has allowed Bauer to soften the X axis of the shaft so that players are able to load their shot much easier than the previous 1N. To create the new and improved Sweet Spot the new Nexus 1N features a combination of two design elements. First is the Control Nexus Shaft Geometry. As previously mentioned, the 14% rounder corners than the old 1N, giving the stick better grip and contact for better control. Second, is the use of “Easy Load” Taper Technology, which is a moderate taper design that creates a smoother, and easier to load stick which provides better consistency with each shot. Together, they have helped Bauer extend the Sweet Spot for more power and efficiency.
As before, the new Nexus 1N features that excellent mid-kick design and shooting is more effortless than the previous 1N.
Graphic and Design
For this year, Bauer re-tooled the graphic on the stick while maintaining that stealthy, blue and black design. We think the stick looks better than the previous 1N without being too flashy or too simple. Furthermore, Bauer has decreased the overall weight of the stick by 9 grams, a minimal change, but should satisfy you weight fanatics out there.
Blade Design
The blade design on the Nexus 1N 2.0 remains intact from the previous 1N, but that isn’t a bad thing at all. Bauer has brought Power Sense Core 2 to the Nexus 1N 2.0. The updated process allows Bauer to integrate the TeXtreme Carbon Fiber directly to the Sense Layer for even better puck feel. The Core 2 brings the overall blade weight down for a more balanced stick, and improves dampening performance when you receive pass or take shots. Power Sense Core 2 has been an important upgrade and is now a part of the 1N 2.0. Additionally, the blade features a matte design with texture for better tape adhesion so you aren’t constantly having to re-tape your stick between periods.
Overall
The Bauer Nexus 1N 2.0 features some important upgrades to help you fire pucks more efficiently and with greater accuracy. The retooled Sweet Spot as a result of the new shaft geometry and taper technology help players get the puck off in a hurry and in any situation without sacrificing power. Easier to load translates to a quicker release and everyone is happy about that. A new graphic and lighter design help to put the Nexus 1N 2.0 above the rest by building upon an already excellent platform from the previous 1N. If you were a fan before, you’ll be a bigger fan now as the Bauer Nexus 1N takes aim at goalies everywhere.
