Introduction

CCM is one of the brands always looking to push innovation with the talented engineer teams they have at their Performance Lab. What they have created this year in the JetSpeed FT3 Pro is the quickest, most durable CCM stick yet. This stick features technologies that will turn any shot in the offensive zone into a Grade-A scoring opportunity.

Nanolite Carbon Layering and Sigmatex Spread Tow

The JetSpeed FT3 Pro is constructed with Sigmatex Spread Tow technology in combination with a new high performance Nanolite Carbon Layering process. Now what all those fancy words mean is that CCM managed to use more material, in the same amount of space, to make a shaft that is not only stronger and more responsive, but also lighter as well.

Weight and Balance Point

Weighing in at only 375 grams, the JetSpeed FT3 Pro is the lightest stick CCM has put out to market. By making the stick lighter, CCM has shifted the balance point further down the shaft towards the blade helping to reduce swing weight and increase feel. Rebalancing the stick this way allowed CCM to remove weight from the blade and the bottom of the shaft, which ultimately results in optimised shooting performance and more pucks in the back of the net.

Hybrid Kick Point

Following JetSpeed models of the past, the FT3 Pro has a hybrid flex profile creating a hinge effect that generates greater power and speed through the puck. The versatile mid-kick allows shooters to be dangerous from any part of the O-Zone with the threat of a laser wrist or snap shot always on the goalies mind.

JF-90 Lightweight Blade

The new JF-90 blade with an exclusive dampened core provides a lightweight blade for players while also increasing their feel for the puck. The heel and toe area are reinforced with Sigmatex technology to increase the strength and stiffness and improve overall durability. The hybrid flex point mixed with CCM’s JF-90 stiff blade eliminates any twisting during a shot.

Shaft Geometry

The new R-Geometry shaft shape is apparent as soon as you grab this stick off the rack. It offers a streamlined shape with rounded corners and concave sides resulting in the user experiencing a comfortable feel in the palm of their hand.

P90TM Tavares Pattern

New from CCM with the JetSpeed FT3 Pro is an updated blade pattern. The P90TM is a hybrid pattern between the passive P29 and the aggressive P28. A modified toe and increased blade height provide more surface area for the skater to work with when passing, shooting, or defending. Lastly, the P90TM has a 5.5 lie angle making it a comfortable pattern for more upright skaters.

On-ice Impressions

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the FT3 Pro pre launch and the new shaft shape and weight were apparent immediately. While stickhandling, I found a great puck feel with the new stiff blade and the lower balance point was evident from the very beginning. The updated graphic design features a black shaft with chrome and red accents that will be haunting goalies dreams for seasons to come.

If you’re a JetSpeed fan, or even someone looking for a change, come by the shop and test out the JetSpeed FT3 Pro in our CCM shooting room to see this weapon for yourself.
