The all-new Bauer Pulse has officially arrived, and it delivers a package of technology that redefines what’s possible for a goalie stick. As Bauer's Holiday Innovation stick, the Bauer Pulse features never-before-seen technology and innovation designed to push the boundaries of what a stick can be. With experimental features like an all-new grip and taper, and proven fan favourites like the P28G curve, this the Bauer Pulse is designed to be the best choice on the market.
As one of the most advanced goalie sticks ever, let’s take a closer look at the technology loaded onto this stick.
If you want an in-depth look at the new Bauer Pulse Goalie Stick, then check out our YouTube review. In the review, you'll get a closer look at the specs of the Bauer Pulse, find out what's new, and I'll give you my honest opinions on the latest Bauer goalie stick.
Since 2022, Bauer has graced goalies with an annual innovation release, designed to conquer all other sticks and set the bar for what a goal stick can offer. These limited-edition sticks are loaded experimental features, new technologies, and innovative design concepts before they filter into future lines.
It all started with the Proto-V in 2022, which set the tone for innovation-driven releases. Then came the Bauer Agent in 2023, introducing Boron Construction to create the lightest goalie stick ever made. Last year, we saw the Protocol, which focused on puck handling and flex performance for goalies who love to play the puck.
The Bauer Pulse looks to combine the best of both worlds, building off the key innovations introduced on each innovation stick of the past. It features the lightweight feel of the Agent and the puck-handling DNA of the Protocol — and fuses them with entirely new ergonomic features to create Bauer’s most complete innovation stick yet.
The new Bauer Pulse comes loaded with style, featuring a black carbon base with bright metallic teal accents that pop off the stick. One cool note about the Bauer Pulse release is that this is the first Innovation release that features matching graphics between the Pulse player and goalie models.
When it comes to the design and details, there are some details worth pointing out. The Raised Ink graphic is especially cool because you can feel every part of the detail and design, providing a textured grip. As for the details, one of the favourites is the pulse symbol that circles the Bauer logo at the top of the stick. The goal stick also features “Innovation Series” stamped into the shaft, a subtle yet notable design detail. Finally, the redesigned ErgoSpine on the paddle features a really nice teal outline that takes the shape of a down arrow.
Overall, this stick packs a punch that will be sure to stand out amongst your gear.
The foundation of the Bauer Pulse is built with Bauer’s signature Textreme carbon fibre, known for being lightweight, responsive, and incredibly durable. This material has been a staple in Bauer’s high-end sticks for years and it’s no surprise the Bauer Pulse uses a Textreme construction.
Making its return from the Bauer Agent, Boron is an ultra-strong, lightweight reinforcement material that adds pop and strength without adding weight to the Bauer Pulse. It’s one of the key reasons this stick feels lively without sacrificing durability. One important implication of this material is the flex profile on the Bauer Pulse feels slightly stiffer than a similar Bauer shadow.
One of the standout new additions on the Bauer Pulse is Bauer’s Ergo Grip design around the paddle shoulders. Inspired by the PentaGrip concept, this new contour shape removes negative space between your hand and the paddle, providing a more natural and secure hold. The enlarged top of the paddle tapers downward, locking in your hand position for enhanced comfort and control.
To complement the Ergo Grip, Bauer reworked the paddle shoulders into a new hybrid shape that is rounded at the thumb placement, and a traditional shape by the index finger, to better match the natural grip angle of the goalie’s hand. The result is a smoother, more connected feel when holding the Bauer Pulse.
Borrowing from Bauer’s player stick line, the Twitch Taper enhances responsiveness through a new dual-taper design that runs through both the shaft and the Redesigned ErgoSpine. The result is improved energy transfer when making saves or moving the puck, giving goalies more feel and precision than ever before.
Back by popular demand, the P28G curve makes another appearance on the Bauer Pulse after debuting on the Bauer Protocol. With an open heel and aggressive toe, this curve is built for goalies who love to play the puck by making it easier to lift and sauce passes down the ice.
Junior Bauer Pulse models come equipped with the more traditional P31 curve for easier control.
First seen on the Bauer Protocol, Bauer’s Hybrid Toe makes its return on the Bauer Pulse. It’s a smart design that merges a rounded bottom edge with a square top edge. It’s a subtle spec that actually makes puck work along the wall much easier, and it performs exactly as intended.
The square top section of the toe is designed to maximize your blade size and create a flat seal against the boards. Square toes have been popular amongst goalies for these exact reasons, however, they can make it a bit more difficult to control the puck with the toe of the blade.
The rounded bottom of the toe is designed to compensate for the challenges the square toe can create. Most player blades are rounded to allow for maximum puck control. This accomplished the same thing for goalies, enabling them to pull the puck off the boards quicker to make a pass, or even stick handle when under pressure.
The Bauer Pulse might just be Bauer’s best goalie stick yet.
It looks incredible and delivers a package of features designed to create a true performance upgrade. The Bauer Pulse successfully leverages some of the most notable technology on Bauer's history of sticks, including Textreme Carbon, Boron, Supreme Spine, and the P28G curve. What’s even more impressive are all the new additions to the stick, namely the all-new Ergo Grip, Raised Ink, and the Twitch Taper influence.
Overall, we’re excited to get the Bauer Pulse goal stick on ice and hear more feedback from the goalie community. From what we’ve seen, this stick has some serious potential to take over the market.
