The Brian’s OPTiK 2 Pro catcher is designed to take any sort of abuse the elite level goaltender can throw at it. Hand-made in Canada, Brian’s uses the most durable leather available to them wrapped around a lightweight, strong Engineered-Foam core. A beveled thumb design directs an increased number of pucks into the large single “T” pocket. The OPTiK 2 uses a comfortable 40º break angle matched with a game ready palm helping it effortlessly snap shut right out of the box. A raised HD foam finger ridge on the back of the catcher paired with a sturdy leather construction helps protect your fingers from slashes when covering the puck. Brian’s uses an SBA palm and cuff combined with their Hex-Air technology and Air-Knit finger stalls to improve comfort and airflow while the use of the BOA dial system allows for fine adjustments helping keep your hands locked into the glove throughout the game. As with all pro level Brian’s gear, the OPTiK 2 catcher is available in custom colours, graphics as well as many other custom options.
External Material
The Brian’s name is synonymous for quality and the OPTiK 2 is no exception to that. Brian’s hand builds each glove using a durable leather to hold up to pro caliber abuse. They use an Engineered-Foam that keeps the catcher light yet durable, holding up to the highest quality shots for years to come. New for the OPTiK 2 line, Brian’s uses Polymesh accents to reduce weight while giving the glove a sleek, rich look. A plush Hex-Air moulded SBA cuff allows for improved airflow and comfort while an SBA palm gets grippier as the game goes on matched with the BOA System dials on the back hand and wrist allowing for easy adjustment keeping your hand comfortable and locked into the glove at all times.
Break Angle
The OPTiK 2 catcher uses a 40º break that has been tweaked from the last generation OPTiK catcher to give the OPTiK 2 a much more natural feeling full-hand closure that lets the game ready palm snap closed right out of the box.
Pocket Design
The large single “T” pocket works to trap pucks minimizing pop-outs while maximizing coverage.
Strapping
The OPTiK 2 utilizes the BOA System to precisely dial in the tightness of the catcher on the back hand and cuff of the catcher. It also features a velcro adjustable elastic strap sitting above the finger stalls that when tightened allows goalies to close the glove easier while giving the sense that their fingers are locked into the finger stalls. Finally, traditional thumb and pinky finger loops allow for easier closure and a tighter fit.
Cuff Design
Brian’s uses a short, true single piece cuff designed to be stiff, rigid and protective to maximize the catching surface of the glove.
Colors
The OPTiK 2 Pro catcher will be available in stock colours with either an All White, White/Black, White/Black/Red, All Black and Black/White colour options. Additional palm size options, colours, graphics and more will be available for custom order.

Goalie Catcher Sizing
More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Catcher is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Catcher provides you the protection and stick control you trust.
Which Catcher Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Catcher size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.
Analyzing the Catcher Fit
It is important to make sure the palm lines up properly within the catching glove, so that it can be closed without excessive force. New goalie gloves will be difficult to close initially, but through either a standard break-in process, or "baking" the catcher with our in-house convection skate ovens, they will soften over time.
*We do not recommend using any conventional in-home ovens, as the results have been very unpredictable in the past and could damage your Catcher.*
Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector.
Sizing for Growing Goaltenders
For growing goaltenders we recommend following the guidelines set above, rather than sizing up to accommodate growth. Oversized goalie gloves restrict control, especially for young developing goalies. As you climb the size ladder for Catchers, typically the glove requires more strength for pocket closure.
Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Catcher can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.
- Goalie Catcher Hands Simplified
- Regular - Catcher worn on your Left Hand
- Full Right - Catcher worn on your Right Hand
