The Brian’s OPTiK 2 Chest Protector is a redesign of the popular OPTiK chest. Brian’s has squared off the shoulder floaters and extended the shoulder caps to add size coverage to the chest. Brian’s also incorporated Smart Strap adjustments for quick and easy adjustments, and no worries of buckles breaking.

External Material
The OPTiK 2 Pro Chest has a lightweight AirKnit external material with a breathable liner. Being lightweight, AirKnit helps reduce goalie fatigue from wearing a heavy Chest Protector. The shoulder floaters and sternum plate feature Jenpro to give the chest a rich look.

Internal Foams
Brian’s uses their E-FOAM Technology to beef up the body of the chest. This helps keep the chest weight down while still providing a high-level of impact protection. The shoulder floaters and clavicle feature HD foams for an added layer of protection. There is also an adjustable floating collar that gives you customized protection around your neck, keeping you covered from stingers.

Shoulder Caps
The shoulder caps in the OPTik 2 Chest Protector are made of HD Foams & Molded Poly. This gives you a shaped fit around the shoulder cap, providing full coverage around the shoulder. There is also a double velcro shoulder blade attachment; one (1) for Sizing and one (1) to adjust the wings. This gives you the ability to customize how the shoulders fit to your body.

Adjustable Arms
The arms of the Optik 2 Chest are velcroed into the body at the shoulders. This provides the ability to make easy adjustments to customize the fit of the arms.

Elbow Caps
The elbow caps are constructed of molded Poly and HD foams. They are anatomically molded to wrap around the elbow joint to provide you maximum coverage. The arm of the Chest protector also helps with the elbow coverage by overlapping on the sides. The tightness can be adjusted by 3 separate straps that come around the backside of your arm.

Back Straps
Brian’s uses their Smart Strap velcro adjustable system to provide a quick on/off for the chest. This system requires no buckles ensuring no breakage due to a puck impact.

Sizes & Colors
The Brian’s OPTik 2 Senior Chest Protector is available in sizes S-XL. At The Hockey Shop, we ordered a custom colorway that is a Black base with Red accents. Brian’s does allow for custom orders on all OPTiK 2 Goaltender equipment. Please contact one of our goalie specialists if you are interested in ordering any custom Brian’s equipment.

Goalie Chest Protector Pad Sizing

Sizing a chest protector is important to ensure the goaltenders range of motion (ROM) is uninhibited, while still offering complete coverage from impact. There are steps necessary to finding the right fit in your chest protector, and the first is to know your measurements. Here at The Hockey Shop, we like to use two measurements: torso length and arm span. Once you have these two measurements, match your measurements to our sizing charts.

Sizing before Purchase
To fit your proper sized chest & arm protector, you will need a soft tape measurer, a pen and paper, and the assistance of a helper.

Arm Span
To measure your arm span, hold your arms out and measure from wrist to wrist. Start from the bottom of one forearm (you’ll see a bone where your wrist is) and measure to the other; make sure to not measure from fingertip to fingertip, as hand size is not relative to arm length.

Torso Length

    1. Have your helper locate the bony bump at the base of your neck (this is located where your shoulders meet your neck). This is your 7th cervical vertebra (C7).
    2. Place your hands on your hips, point your fingers down, and your thumbs in a horizontal position around your back, forming an imaginary line.
    3. Taking the tape measurer, have your helper measure from your C7 to the imaginary line, and you will have your torso length.

Once you have these two measurements, cross-reference them with our available sizing chart.

Sizing after Purchase

After receiving your chest & arm, you are going to want to check if your size fits the following criteria:

    1. The arms end just before your wrist. This is important because you want to ensure that the wrist portion of the arms do not interfere with your blocker and trapper—this still provides adequate growing room for the blocker and trapper, which usually last you 1 to 2 years. Depending on the model, adjustable arms may be an offered feature, which is an added bonus for goaltenders that are still growing.
2.Your elbows fit securely in to the pocket of the elbow protection, and do not shift too far away from them. Keep in mind, arms usually have to be adjusted while putting on your chest & arm.
3.Make sure the shoulders of the chest & arm are sitting comfortably atop, and wrapped around your shoulders. This can be seen visually by looking at the collar of the chest & arm; you want the collar

Each brand of chest & arms will have not only a different shape, but also a slightly different fit.
