New for 2021, the 3rd generation of Vapor goal stick in the modern era brings familiar dampening and feel to a lighter weight package and all-new design. The Bauer Vapor Hyperlite SR Goalie Stick features TEXTREME construction, ACL Paddle Technology and PentaGrip handle, offering you some of the best goalie stick features to date.

Shaft Construction
The shaft of the Hyperlite is made up of a 3k carbon weave. This carbon makeup keeps the stick light and balanced, with improved durability. The Hyperlite also features a shaft that’s 3” shorter which allows for easier puck handling.

Paddle Construction
The paddle of the Hyperlite is made up of Textreme and Advanced Carbon Layering technologies. Textreme and ACL are both familiar Bauer technologies that work together to get a lighter and stronger stick. Advanced Carbon Layering technology is the way that the spread-tow Textreme carbon fiber is constructed. ACL technology uses thinner, stronger internal carbon fiber layers to create a lighter and stronger stick that has an optimized flex profile for playing the puck.

Blade Construction/Stiffness
The blade of the Hyperlite features the familiar Textreme construction, with a new HyperCore construction underneath. Hypercore is a new lightweight blade core that gives the stick a very balanced feel without the typical blade-heaviness.

Graphics
The Hyperlite goal stick features an all-new graphic that allows the colour of the carbon to be the base colour. Moving away from the fully painted Vapor sticks of the past improves overall weight and balance, while giving goalies a modern look. The Hyperlite is available in silver/black, along with all-new red, blue, and black colours that feature coloured Textreme.

Grip
The handle of the Hyperlite features the tacky, textured grip that has been on prior Bauer sticks. However, the Hyperlite utilizes the brand new handle geometry of Pentagrip to further optimize goalies’ grip. As it sounds, Pentagrip is an asymmetrical pentagonal shape of the shaft, only on the front side of where the stick is held. With our hands naturally forming better around less squared-off surfaces, Pentagrip improves the grip of the stick, and gives goalies a better all around feel in the hand.

Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths, Stick Lengths, Weight, Level of Play
The HyperLite will be offered in 3 senior sizes: 25”, 26”, and 27”. The popular P31 curve will be the only curve offered at the retail level, with more options available at custom. Keeping the same mid-curve DNA, the P31 curve on the Hyperlite has a round toe. This round toe allows for easier puck handling; a similar toe to what is on most player sticks.

Goalie Stick Sizing Information

Unlike other pieces of gear, Goalie Sticks are sized mostly to the goaltender’s preference and playing style rather than their height. The most important measurement, when purchasing a new goal stick, is the paddle height (the wide portion of the stick), which is usually taken from the heel of the stick to the shaft/paddle interface. The reason for the paddle height’s significance is because it sets up the goaltender’s depth in the ready stance and (if properly sized) positions the blocker in an optimal position.

Sizing Your Goalie Stick
To start analyzing the size of your goalie stick, put on your goalie skates to get an accurate height of where you will be in your stance. If you’re looking to be even more accurate, strap on your goalie pads and blocker as well. Once that is done, get comfortable in your natural stance (the one you’d be in during a majority of gameplay) and look for the following:
1. The entire blade of the stick is flush with the ground while being 1’ - 2’ in front of your feet
2. After getting your stick into the flush position, check that the inside edge of the blocker hand sits on the outside edge of the goal pad (this is while holding just above the paddle).

Goalie Stick Sizing Considerations
Goalie Stick sizing can be very subjective compared to other pieces of equipment. The reason for this is the ambiguity of each goaltenders ‘natural stance’, especially with younger goaltenders. It is rather common for children to use taller sticks in comparison to their height, as their stance depth isn’t usually as aggressive as a seasoned goalie.

The shaft length of a goalie stick is usually best left at its stock length, as it serves to counteract the weight of the blade and ideally place the center of gravity at the top of the paddle. The one exception to this rule is for advanced puck handlers, cutting the shaft will allow more power transfer when shooting as a result of being able to keep the blade flush to the ice while near the goaltender’s feet.
