The Bauer Supreme UltraSonic SR Composite Goalie Stick builds off the success of the previous generation 2S Pro. The new Ergo Spine + Technology works to reinforce and strengthen the paddle, and 3K Carbon shaft construction retains the stiff, lightweight feel from its predecessor.

Shaft Construction
The shaft of the UltraSonic composite goal stick is made up of a 3K Carbon construction which increases the shaft’s strength while decreasing weight when compared to the previous generation 2S Pro.

Paddle Construction
The paddle of the Supreme UltraSonic goalie stick features the same proven Textreme construction found in the Supreme 2S Pro. The new Ergo Spine + technology is a redesigned rounded profile on the base of the spine, increasing the stick’s durability in the paddle. Bauer uses their Advanced Carbon Layering or ACL technology (first found in the 2X Pro goal stick) which is a new way of layering the carbon fiber. This new method of carbon layering decreases the weight of the goalie stick, while increasing the pop of the stick. You also get an optimized flex profile focused on helping goaltenders play the puck with ease.

Blade Construction/Stiffness
The blade of the UltraSonic goal stick uses Bauer’s most advanced technologies to give goalies a strong, stiff and durable blade full of pop for playing the puck. They do so by wrapping their responsive, lightweight Aerofoam III Core with Textreme to provide great durability and consistent puck feel from such a stiff, thin blade.

Graphics
The Bauer UltraSonic goal stick stays with a silver coloured Textreme base and is available with your choice of Black, Blue, Red or Navy accents at retail. More colour options are available at custom but still with the same Textreme base.

Grip
The paddle shoulder of the UltraSonic composite stick offers a very familiar feel for goalies that have used Bauer sticks before. It features a new textured pattern grip zone allowing for grip when holding the stick at the paddle while remaining slick enough for goalies to quickly slide their blockers to the top of the shaft when playing the puck.

Blade Patterns, Paddle Lengths, Stick Lengths, Weight, Level of Play
The Bauer Supreme Ultrasonic Composite Goalie Stick will only be available in a senior variation, offered in 3 different sizes; 25”, 26” and 27”. The stick will only be offered in a single curve at the retail level, which is P31. More curves are available at the custom level P34, P20, and P30 .

Goalie Stick Sizing Information

Unlike other pieces of gear, Goalie Sticks are sized mostly to the goaltender’s preference and playing style rather than their height. The most important measurement, when purchasing a new goal stick, is the paddle height (the wide portion of the stick), which is usually taken from the heel of the stick to the shaft/paddle interface. The reason for the paddle height’s significance is because it sets up the goaltender’s depth in the ready stance and (if properly sized) positions the blocker in an optimal position.

Sizing Your Goalie Stick
To start analyzing the size of your goalie stick, put on your goalie skates to get an accurate height of where you will be in your stance. If you’re looking to be even more accurate, strap on your goalie pads and blocker as well. Once that is done, get comfortable in your natural stance (the one you’d be in during a majority of gameplay) and look for the following:
1. The entire blade of the stick is flush with the ground while being 1’ - 2’ in front of your feet
2. After getting your stick into the flush position, check that the inside edge of the blocker hand sits on the outside edge of the goal pad (this is while holding just above the paddle).

Goalie Stick Sizing Considerations
Goalie Stick sizing can be very subjective compared to other pieces of equipment. The reason for this is the ambiguity of each goaltenders ‘natural stance’, especially with younger goaltenders. It is rather common for children to use taller sticks in comparison to their height, as their stance depth isn’t usually as aggressive as a seasoned goalie.

The shaft length of a goalie stick is usually best left at its stock length, as it serves to counteract the weight of the blade and ideally place the center of gravity at the top of the paddle. The one exception to this rule is for advanced puck handlers, cutting the shaft will allow more power transfer when shooting as a result of being able to keep the blade flush to the ice while near the goaltender’s feet.

Ultrasonic

My son says it's very light and loves the look of the paddle.

Game Stick

Not sure why anyone would use this stick for training or camps where a goaltender will face hundreds of shots. This is a game stick which will provide light, responsive puck control and handling. Get the cheapo's ($99?!!) with the same specs for practice, training, camps - heavier but that's what you want. Use the Ultrasonic for puck handling drills but otherwise this WILL get destroyed quickly.

Same old ergo spine issues

Thought we would give the new Bauer Ultrasonic ergo spine paddle sticks another try after my son used the Bauer 2s pros last year. Those 2s pro sticks (2) separated at the ergo spine where the shaft meets paddle on backside. Son was training 2x per week and attended a few camps and tryouts, spine is already broken in same place again. Midget goalie. If you want any sort of durability, look elsewhere.
