Vaughn brings in the SLR2 youth blocker this year to give those looking for high end youth gear a great piece of equipment. With the inclusion of many pro features, this pad stacks up against any of its competitors. With Pro features such as Vaughn’s QuickSlide material, a new trigger finger design and a thumb pillow, this blocker is prepared for high-level hockey.

External Material
Vaughn uses classic Jenpro leather on the exterior of the SLR 2 blocker given its proven durability and performance.

Palm Material
The Vaughn SLR2 intermediate blocker uses a very comfortable palm for ultimate feel when playing the puck. The palm consists of a VX Suede palm with an antimicrobial treatment. Vaughn then adds a grip surface on the exterior of the palm to keep your hand from slipping when handling the puck or making a stick save.

Side Hand Protection
A minor adjustment to the Vaughn blocker is the tweaking of the side hand protection slightly to improve the stick positioning and placement area without sacrificing any protection. The side shield is also larger this time with a floating index finger extension for added customizability and protection.

Cuff
The youth SLR2 cuff remains reasonably open, featuring a free flex cuff for added wrist mobility when making saves and playing the puck.

Hand Protection
Along with the sidewall improvements, the Ventus intermediate blocking board features thicker HD foam. The back hand also features an air cushion to improve impact absorption. The fingers feature floating HD foam finger guards to protect from any awkward shots and pucks riding up the paddle.

Colors Available
The SLR2 Pro blocker is available in white/black, white/red and white/blue colourways to match nearly any jersey.

Goalie Blockers Sizing

More times than not, the fit of your Goalie Blocker is often overlooked. This is likely the result of the limited size availability compared to other pieces of equipment, however a properly sized Blocker provides you the protection and stick control you trust.

Which Blocker Size is for you?
The first step to finding the correct Blocker size is to utilize the “heel-of-palm-to-tip-of-middle-finger” measurement. This measurement will generally send you to the appropriate size you need.

Analyzing the Blocker Fit
It is important to ensure that the fingers tips lie close to the seam of the palm, or within 0.5” if the Blocker is for a young growing goaltender. Next you want to ensure the adjustable wrist strap goes directly across the wrist bone, and has minimal to no interference with your chest protector. The goaltender should be able to swivel their wrist to accommodate a range of save selections without any restrictions from the chest protector. You also want to ensure that the goalie can maintain control of their stick in addition to being able to maneuver the blocker when handling the puck.

Which Hand Do I Need?
Figuring out which hand you need for your Blocker can be slightly confusing. Goalies generally refer to themselves as "REGULAR" or "FULL RIGHT". Below is the easiest way to simplify which hand you need.

    Blocker Hands Simplified
  • Regular - Blocker worn on your Right Hand
  • Full Right - Blocker worn on your Left Hand
