The CCM Jetspeed FT485 JR Hockey Skates are a performance level skate. The FT485 offers many of the same features from the FT4 in a more affordable package. The One-Piece Boot is standard across both models, with the CCM XS quick release holder. Some other new features include the Memory Foam ankle pads and the Asymmetrical XS Dual Layer Tongue.
Skate Fit Profile
CCM has followed suit within the industry and made their skates more accessible to different foot shapes and profiles. CCM has moved away from the standard D, EE widths, and restructured their skates profiles into tapered, regular, and wide options. The new system fits are a result of the most common shapes amongst the 3D Scan system introduced a couple of years ago. The Tapered fit will be most similar to the previous Jetspeed fit, whereas the Regular will be most like the Tacks line, and the Wide most like the previous Ribcore skates. That being said, at the junior level, the FT485 will only be offered in the Regular width option.
Boot Construction & Stiffness Profile
The CCM FT485 Intermediate skate offers a similar quarter package as the FT4. It features the One-Piece Boot made with Synthetic Composite, CCM’s latest technology for this age group. The Synthetic Composite material is designed with the right amount of structural stiffness to take into account the weight of our junior players. The one-piece boot design reduces empty space within the boot for a better fit to maximize the energy from the body through the skate and onto the ice.
The tendon guard continues to offer flexibility to increase the overall range of motion of the boot. The tendon guard flexes slightly forward and back to not limit your stride strength.
Liner & Internal Padding
The liner in the Jetspeed FT485 skates is the TotalDri liner. The moisture-wicking liner helps your feet stay dry and the skates light during an ice session. The liner also helps dry skates after use to help the boots be ready for the next time they’re put on.
The TotalDri liner also features several areas of reinforcement for common high-wear areas, increasing the overall durability of the boot and liner.
The internal padding features multi-density memory foam comfort pads to provide a comfortable wrap around the fit and to optimize the comfort of the skate. The injected smooth contour pro pad at the top of the boot provides additional comfort in a potential high pressure point area.
Another key upgrade to the CCM FT485 is the Replaceable Asymmetrical Dual Layer tongue. It consists of 7mm felt, with reinforcement layers for increased comfort and protection.
The CCM Ortholite footbed in the FT485 is a lightweight insole to provide maximum comfort and support for your arches.
The Jetspeed line continues with the tried and true standard eyelet lacing system. The top eyelets are also reinforced for increased durability.
Steel Runner, Holder & Blade Profile
For the Jetspeed FT485, the stock steel will be the CCM XS 1 Stainless Steel. This blade provides a long-lasting edge for long-term performance. Furthermore, it is 12% taller in height than standard blades for better turns.
The CCM Speedblade XS is mounted on the FT485 skates, offering the sturdy quick release system that has become a staple amongst the top end players around the world.
The graphic on the CCM FT485 is quite similar to that of the FT4. The flashy but clean black red and white pattern will have the skates sure to be noticed.
