The CCM Axis A1.9 senior is a new take on what CCM has done great for years. With a slim, light stiff design that replaces the Premier P2.9 from years past CCM has brought a new horse to the race. By adapting the LiteXcore technology from the Elite Axis pads, the Axis A1.9 senior leg pads bring a new super lightweight dynamic to CCM’s stiffer line of pads.
External Material
The Axis A1.9 sr pads continue to use the great Speedskin material that CCM has used for awhile now. This material is lighter than synthetic leather and increases slide speeds by reducing the friction of the pad on the ice. This makes the most difference late in the game when the ice is cut up.
Internal Construction
The LiteXcore construction that the Axis A1.9 sr takes from the Axis elite pad is one of the biggest changes to the line overall. The LiteXcore is a much slimmer profile when compared to the older Premier line, allowing for less restriction of movement. The slimmer profile has also been built stiffer for harder rebounds and of course to maintain structural integrity over time. The inside sliding edge of the pad is also a complete flat HD foam piece that creates a solid connection with the ice and prevents pucks from getting stuck underneath the sliding edge.
Pad Break
When dealing with a stiffer pad it is important to have a pad break that benefits the construction of the pad itself, especially with growing goalies. On the Axis A1.9 leg pad we offer a single inner break and a single outer break as a stock option. The slightly increased flex of the pad allows the fivehole to close easier while still maintaining a good amount of stiffness and surface area overall.
Boot Angle & Toe Taper
The Axis 1.9 senior goalie pads are built to be in the butterfly with the maximum amount of net coverage. For that reason, the leg pads offer both a 90-degree toe taper, as well as a 90-degree boot. The 90-degree toe taper keeps the entire inside edge of the boot pressed against the ice in the butterfly sealing the boot area exceptionally well. The 90-degree boot also allows for freer movement especially while in a low aggressive stance.
Knee Cradle
The Axis 1.9 knee stack features PE foams that offers protection on your landing area. The pad also offers a removable knee wrap to either offer a tighter or looser fit depending on the goalies preference, or if they wear knee pads or not.
Strapping
The QMSS Strapping system returns to the Axis 1.9 senior leg pads, and for good reason. The lightweight and secure velcro strapping system works well in tandem with the break of the pad and the LiteXcore to provide a familiar loose feeling that allows for the best possible pad rotation. The bungee strapping works well in tandem with the 90-degree boot to allow the goalies skate to drop to the ice just as effectively to provide the most powerful pushes.

Goalie Leg Pad Sizing
Sizing up your goalie leg pads is crucial for having total control while moving in the crease. There are two different measurements you can use to project the size of leg pad you should be wearing. The first one is your floor-to-knee measurement, which you can match up with our provided sizing charts to find the size of pad you would wear, before plus sizing. The second is the sum of your skate size, mid-ankle-to-mid-knee measurement, and your mid-knee-to-mid-thigh measurement. This measurement gives you a rough idea of what overall size pad you should purchase.

Sizing after Purchase
Once you have your new leg pads, you’ll need to make sure they fit you properly. To do so, you’ll need to put the pads on with your skates, as if you are about to go on the ice. There a couple things to do to check size, once you have the pads on:

Well made and durable. No issues
Great service. Unfortunately I messed up sizing and they were too big. They made it easy to return and provided the shipping label.
