The Vapor 2X Pro hockey skate is made for players that can tell the difference in performance and know that high-tech will improve their game. 2X Pro is a great choice for players looking for quickness, lightweight and agility on the ice.

With a focus on improved fit and out of the box comfort, head turning graphics, and a boatload of redesigned features, the 2X Pro skate is arguably the best Vapor skate of all time.

NEW FEATURES

Asymmetrical Toe Cap
One of the big changes featured on the 2X Pro skate is the new asymmetrical toe cap. This low volume toe cap was built based on the data collected from over 25,000 scans from the Bauer 3D scanner. Reduced volume results in improved fit and translates to enhanced push off on every skate stride.

Tongue
Bauer finally got it right with the new Recoil Pro tongue. Generation after generation of too thin or thick has been solved with a tongue that is very close in volume to the Classic Felt tongue option on custom MyBauer skates. It also features an injected insert that adds protection and comfort against lace-bite without being too bulky.

Graphics
Bauer took a bold move switching towards brighter colours for the Vapor 2X Pro skates. Highlighted by a yellow colour pop (which by the way doesn’t have any specific tie in with the traditional Supreme family colour) and also enhanced with lighter silver colouration of the back of the skate, it’s a refreshing change from the trend of “black boot/ white holder” we’ve seen over the past few years.

Redesigned Flex Tendon
A redesigned injected plastic tendon provides more flex than any previous Vapor model but not as much as the Supreme 2S Pro. During testing, we found it to strike a nice balance between supportive and flexible which should suit elite level skaters well.

Skate Fit Profile
Vapor continues to be the best option for skaters with a low fit profile. While not as tight across the forefoot as previous generation Vapors, the fit is definitely snugger than Supreme or Nexus.

Boot Construction/Stiffness/Level of Play
Designed for the pro and elite level player, the 2X Pro skate features Bauer’s 3D carbon CURV composite material. This is the highest-end, lightest weight and best thermal forming CURV material Bauer offers. Comfort Edge Padding returns to offer comfort and reduce bite from the top of the boot when performing aggressive turns.

Liner/Internal Padding
The 2X Pro is one of the most comfortable out of the box skates we’ve experienced. If the Vapor fit profile is right for you, the updated Lock-Fit Pro liner and Aero Foam Pro memory foam will deliver pillow-like comfort while providing a snug ankle wrap.

Insoles
Bauer's Dynamic Flex footbed provides the ultimate support and comes standard in every 2X Pro Skate. Mid-density top foam covers high impact areas for premium comfort and stabilizing grip applications further support your foot.

Lacing System
The new integrated injected lace facing with lace lock wraps the foot better, supports the foot, and allows you to have more control over the skate.

Similar to the Supreme 2S Pro skate, it features three additional lacing pattern options in-between the top 4 eyelets. The three eyelet holes are located a bit closer to the ankle bone and are offset with the top 4. This allows you to customize your lacing style to optimize comfort and performance. The primary purpose of the extra eyelets will be to snug up the fit for someone with smaller ankle volume.

Holders/Steel
Tuuk LS5 carbon coated steel is Bauer’s premium steel and provides increased sharpening life with improved edge bite. This allows skaters drop to a shallower hollow to take advantage of increased glide while maintaining the same amount of control.

The holder used on the 2X Pro is the Tuuk Lightspeed Edge with quick release trigger system. This holder is the number one holder used by NHL and professional players everywhere.

Hockey Player Skate Sizing Guide

    Things to consider:
  • Age
  • Measurement from longest point of foot (cm)

When sizing for the correct size of a skate, we always advise taking the measurements below from a sitting position and not standing upright. Additional weight on your foot/feet can skew your result and misrepresent your foot size. The reason for this is that as you put your full weight on your feet, the arch of your foot will collapse and cause your foot to appear wider or longer than it actually is.

As well, please be aware that skate sizes and shoes sizing do not match exactly. As a general guideline, skates size 1 ½ sizes smaller than shoes.

It is ideal for a player to have a tight, snug fit both in length and width as this will provide the best performance and durability. If a skate is too big you will feel your feet slide around and you will not get the full performance out of the skates and can also develop calcium deposits - Haglund’s Deformity or “Bauer Bumps” for lack of a better term although this issue doesn’t only occur with Bauer models.

An Ideal Fit: Stand with your skates laced and your heel snug in the heel cup. Your toes should just barely feather the end of the toe box. Bend forward into a skating stance. Your toes should pull back slightly from the toe box. Once heat fit, your foot should slide back into the foams of the skate and the length you felt in your skating stance will more-or-less become you standing size.

To obtain the measurement above you will need a soft tape measure and a pen. Start by placing the tape measure flat along the ground in a straight line. Sitting in a chair, place your foot down with the longest point of your foot (usually big toe, or second toe) in line with the edge of the tape measure. Make sure you keep your weight off of your foot. Take a pen and mark the tape measure where the edge of your heel ends. Record this length in cm. This measurement will correspond with the sizing charts in each brand below, if you do not see your exact measurement, select the size with the next size increment above your measurement (i.e. you measure 24.9 cm, you would select 25.1 cm or Size 6).

Sizing Children for Growth Room: If you are purchasing skates for your child, it is common and usually recommended to add some additional room in the skate to increase the last, we recommend no more than 1 full size. Feet stop growing around ages 15 – 15 ½, and from ages 14 - 15 ½ we would recommend adding only half (1/2) a size in length. Follow the same measurement instructions as above, once you obtain your true size move up ½ or 1 size.

***Sizing of skates is very preference based and these measurements will not guarantee a fit that is right for you. Please use these as general guidelines, for the most accurate fit we always recommend getting measured by a professional skate fitter at our store or your local pro shop.***
