Brian's G-NETik 8.0 Leg Pads

The G-NETik series is catered to the hybrid-style goalie, who prefers a more flexible pad that follows their every movement. The double knee break design makes the pad nice and soft, especially once broken in, which also allows you to easily close the 5-hole without putting too much stress on your hips. Furthermore, the soft boot gives you a great range of motion for charging up and getting stronger pushes.

Another key point to make about the soft boot is that it allows the goalie to get into a loaded stance when the play is in close, or into the VH or reverse-VH positions.

Just like the G-NETik Pro 3s, the 8.0 leg pads feature the Smart Strap system. The calf strap allows you to adjust the fit of the pad to your preference, while the Smart Strap toe ties will reduce stress on your hips, knees and ankles. The best part about the Smart Straps: your time getting in and out of your equipment will go down.

The G-NETik 8.0 leg pads come with a weave synthetic leather knee cradle. The weave synthetic provides less friction when the pad rotates and wears better. Also, as you can see, the knee flap is laced; if you prefer attaching your knee block strap to your calf, you can open the knee cradle by removing the knee flap.

The knee block is the maximum IIHF ‘legal’ size, providing great support for your knees. The knee block size also helps provide a more consistent seal on the ice.

Lastly, Brian’s original lace-less face design gives the pads a clean aesthetic and modern look.

Brian's G-NETik 8.0 Trapper

The G-NETik 8.0 trapper is directly based off the pro-level G-NETik 3 trapper, featuring a 35-degree closure. The 35-degree closure brings your index finger to the tip of your thumb, a pure catching glove. The large double-T pocket will open further, after some use, further increasing puck retention.

The inside of the trapper is lined with Brian’s ‘No Slip Grip’ SBA synthetic material. This synthetic controls moisture within the glove and keeps your hand dry; the grip results in better control in the glove and consistent catches.

The flared cuff makes it easier to present the glove to the shooter, especially in close-quarter situations. Another feature seen on the backhand of the glove is the HD foam finger pad, protecting your hand from aimless sticks in crease battles.

Lastly, the trapper comes as close to game ready as possible off the shelf, as it has been pre-broken in by a proprietary machine at the Brian’s factory.

Brian's G-NETik 8.0 Blocker

Just like the G-NETik Pro 3, the 8.0 blocker has a binding-less edge for a clean look. The binding-less edge also maximizes the allowed blocking surface, since the binding accounts for some of that size.

The centred palm position gives the blocker a balanced feel on your hand, giving you the best control and rebound consistency. The Nash palm is also very comfortable, and is reinforced with No Slip SBA synthetic; the SBA doubles up as a reinforcement for the Nash and as a better grip for holding the stick.

Accordion-style finger protection is made with high-density foam pads. The style of the protection allows the padding to follow the movement of your fingers, keeping them completely covered.

A removable side hand cushion is added between the palm and sidewall of the blocker, doubling up the protection. If you don’t like it there, you can remove it.

Final Thoughts

The Brian’s G-NETik 8.0 series is a great price-point alternative for the G-NETik Pro 3s. The softer, more flexible design of the pads are complimented with a sturdy HD foam core, ensuring the pads won’t break down quickly.

Overall, the quality of the G-NETik 8.0s is what sets them apart from other price-point models, so the value is second-to-none.
