On Saturday, January 25th the Bauer Nexus ADV stick is being launched! Here's what you need to know about this revolutionary new stick.
The Nexus ADV just redefined what a hockey stick looks like. Weighing in at only 365 grams, it’s not only the lightest Nexus stick ever created, it's loaded with truly revolutionary technologies that provide a level of performance and feel you've never experienced before. Although all Nexus sticks are designed to load and release shots with ease, new Nexus ADV Technologies SLINGTECH and ER SPINE TECH further enhance these characteristics.
Let’s start off with the big wow factor.
The hole in the blade is called SLINGTECH and creates a slingshot effect when releasing the puck.
With this innovation Bauer has created two separate blade sections with different properties that work together while loading and releasing shots. The result is that the blade does the work, making it easier to load and release the puck with added acceleration. The two different sections hug the puck for better control.
When it comes to taping the blade, there isn’t a special or unique way to tape the blade. We recommend that it be taped the same way as a standard blade.
And while we won't know 100% about the blade durability until they hit the ice, Bauer expects durability to be on par with their current elite level blades. Bauer's standard 30 day warranty applies to the Nexus ADV.
ER SPINE TECH SHAFT
ER SPINE technology reduces weight and creates a faster transfer of energy to the blade. The five-sided geometry improves the performance by removing excess carbon fiber layers in the key loading area.
The Nexus ADV uses a new five-sided shaft geometry to improve performance. By changing the geometry of the shaft, Bauer was able to remove excess carbon fiber layers in the key loading area of the stick while maintaining a standard Nexus mid-kick point. This new technology reduces weight and creates a faster transfer of energy to the blade. Also, it makes it easier to lean into the stick to load and release shots with less effort. The main benefits of the shape are that it’s designed to contour to the palm of the player’s hand to maximize feel and control.
Although we haven't had a chance to test the Nexus ADV on ice yet (due to Bauer keeping this stick launch under lock and key until now) several of our staff have had a chance to test it in our Stick Demo Zone. The early results have been unanimously positive. The SLINGTECH blade pops and the ER SPINE has a cool, unique feel that we can see being adopted moving forward in future Bauer stick launches.
Limited quantities are only available in store for the first 30 days - swing by the shop starting Saturday, January 25th if you want to be the first to get your hands on one and make your teammates jealous.
