A Note From The Hockey Shop Source for Sports Regarding Composite Sticks & Shafts

Dear Valued Customer,

Composite sticks and composite shafts are covered under a one-time replacement warranty for 30 days from the date of purchase. Our store is fortunate to be able to replace broken sticks and shafts in store within this 30 day period. However, for customers who purchased there Composite stick or shaft online, all warranties are Consumer Direct.

In an effort to tighten down warranties, our suppliers are trying to convert stores over to a consumer direct warranty policy. This would be extremely negative for our customers as all broken sticks would have to be sent back to the supplier to receive a replacement. Even if a stick breaks in the first day or two, the customer would have ship it back to the supplier. It takes about two weeks to receive a replacement stick and costs roughly $15 in shipping charges.

Over the past couple years, we have attempted to replace sticks that showed minimal wear and were slightly outside the warranty period. In turn, many of the sticks that we have replaced for customers were never credited by our suppliers.

When we create a return authorization number online for sticks replaced in store, we must indicate a purchase date. Unfortunately we are unable to select a date that is even 31 days previous. If the stick is outside of the 30 day warranty it is now 100% out of our hands and the sole discretion of the respective company.

Furthermore, we are unable to warranty a stick that is a warranty replacement. The sticks are only covered under warranty for a one time replacement, and the respective manufacturers have implemented a serial number system on all sticks and shafts to prevent stores from being able to replace sticks that are in fact warranty replacements.

Sticks that have cosmetic wear and tear or nicks in them are not deemed to be broken. Hockey is a physical sport and sticks can be damaged from other sticks and skates very easily.

Please contact the respective manufacturer with any warranty concerns that we are unable to resolve.

Thank you for your consideration on this matter,
